Minneapolis is situated in the heart of the 13 county metro area on the eastern edge of Minnesota.  A hybrid of the souix/greek word meaning, "water city," Minneapolis is a very appropriate name for the largest city in the state of Minnesota, "The land of 10,000 Lakes."  Minneapolis gained its foundation as a major city from the strength of the Mighty Mississippi along which it resides.  The flour mills that dotted its banks over a hundred years ago and gave Minneapolis its financial backing are once again giving Minneapolis a push in its economy.  The Minneapolis riverfront is now THE place to live.  Over the past few years, thousands of townhouses and condos have been converted or built from existing buildings, such as mills, within the downtown Riverfront District.

A few blocks south of downtown along Hennepin Avenue is Uptown, a very hip, popular neighborhood with the younger, creative community.  It offers unique shopping, dining, amplified nightlife with up and coming bands found in the local establishments, such as the Bryant Lake Bowl, nightly.
